Begin with computational-law doctrine
Graph importance and legal authority answer different questions. Citation counts, degree, PageRank-like scores and centrality describe a particular parsed graph as of a date and depend on corpus coverage, edge extraction, weighting and algorithm. Legal authority depends on source hierarchy, jurisdiction, court relationship, publication, holding, procedural posture, treatment and current validity. A citation edge does not reveal positive or negative treatment. High rank cannot cure invalid categories or overruled law. Every measurement must state its snapshot and method and pass validity filters before use. Rankings are never case-outcome features or authority claims.
